Why it's important to have a clean mattress system
When a specialty mattress is ordered, it is done so to treat wounds or to keep them from occurring. One of the therapies these mattresses provide is called low air loss, which in turn helps keep the patient dry. By blowing a low amount of air onto the patient's skin these mattresses allow the air from the room to fill the mattresses, in turn providing Low Air Loss therapy. This means whatever is in the room (flu virus, common cold, or other bacteria) is potentially in the mattress. This is why most manufacturers recommend cleaning the inside of the mattress system monthly.
